Burkina: President Traoré’s encouraging outings make headlines

The Burkinabè newspapers that reached the AIB this Monday morning comment extensively on the outings, over the past weekend, of the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, on the one hand to visit army training units and on the other hand, to comfort the families of combatants who have fallen due to terrorism.

L’Express du Faso, a private daily published in Bobo-Dioulasso, mentions: “Patriotic support fund: Here are the armaments that we have paid for with your contributions”, presenting in the headline the image of the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré in the middle of weapons on display.

According to the Bobolais newspaper, the “murmurs” intensified after the announcement last week of increases and levies on the prices of certain products and services.

“The echo reached the highest level of the State to such an extent that the Minister of State Bassolma Bazié came out to ask the Burkinabè to agree to make the sacrifice + without murmurs +”, reports L’Express du Faso.

The national daily Sidwaya highlights “Families of the FDS fallen at the Front: the Head of State brings his encouragement” and “Operations of the combatant forces: the President of the Transition visits the units”.

The newspaper reports that the President of the Transition, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré visited on Saturday July 22, 2023 the families of elements of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) fallen on the field of honor for the fatherland.

“He went successively to the homes of gendarme Siambou Ouattara, police officer Philipe Coulibaly and soldier Théophile Taoudyendé who all paid the supreme sacrifice in the defense of the territory”, specifies Sidwaya.

Meanwhile, L’Observateur Paalga, the dean of private dailies in Burkina Faso, summarizes President Ibrahim Traoré’s two outings with the headline: “Fight against terrorism: Captain Traoré on the military and social fronts”.

In the same vein, Today in Faso displays: “Burkina Faso: Visits to units and IB’s compassion for affected families”.

As for the private daily Le Pays, it reports that what led Captain Traoré to the homes of the fallen FDS was to “inquire about the living conditions of widows and orphans, comfort and encourage the families of fallen soldiers”.

In its “Confidences du weekend”, Le Pays informs that in Kaya, capital of the Center-North region, a restaurateur was kidnapped by unidentified individuals
