Air France will not be able to resume its flights to Burkina without the approval of ANAC-BF

While Air France intended to resume its flights on Saturday, after a “sudden suspension without notice” of five days, the National Civil Aviation Agency of Burkina Faso notified it that She would first have to get approval for her new flight schedule.

The Director General of Burkina Faso’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC-BF), Dr Hyacinthe Thomas Compaoré, reminded Air France in a letter of “the importance of transparent and proactive communication in the event of major disruptions. »

Mr. Compaoré alluded to the suspension of Air France flights to Burkina Faso from August 7 to 11, 2023, due to the situation in Niger and in the sub-region.

According to Thomas Compaoré, this “sudden suspension without notice constitutes a serious breach”, in accordance with the bilateral agreement signed on May 29, 1962 in Paris between Burkina Faso and the French Republic.

“Consequently, the resumption of your activities will require the prior approval of a new flight program for the rest of the Summer 2023 season”, warned the Burkinabè authority to Air France.

“I strongly urge you to review your internal procedures for handling disruption situations and put in place clear communication protocols in the event of flight suspensions. concluded Hyacinthe Thomas Compaoré.
