Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis participated today, Thursday, February 23, in a teleconference on the first satellite communication between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and three Greek Missions abroad, in Prague, Nicosia, and Lisbon, in the presence of the Secretary-General of Telecommunications and Post, Athanasios Staveris.

Greece becomes the first country at European level to develop the possibility of communicating with its Missions abroad by its own satellite means, in particular through the Greek satellite Hellas SAT. The Alternate Minister emphasized the significance of the development of an innovative and autonomous operational satellite communications system for direct and secure communication among Greek services and thanked the General Secretariat of Telecommunications and Post, which is implementing the program in cooperation with the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

Our country is at the forefront of innovation, as it participates in the Prague-based European Space Programme Agency (EUSPA), which Mr. Varvitsiotis had the opportunity to visit last October and meet with the Greek scientists working there.
