BOUAKÉ, Burkina Faso — The tranquility of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) volunteers was disturbed by Algerian supporters during a match between Algeria and Burkina Faso. This incident occurred during the second day of group matches at the Bouaké Peace Stadium, as reported by Agence d’Information du Burkina (AIB) on site.
According to the Burkina Information Agency, A group of Algerian fans, who had come to support their team, the Fennecs of Algeria, attempted to change stands after purchasing tickets for a specific sector. This led to a confrontation with CAN volunteers, who are experienced in managing such situations. The volunteers formed a line to prevent the supporters from climbing over the gates and causing further disorder. Despite the disturbance, the match, attended by 33,501 spectators, ended with a 2-2 draw. Following the match, the Algerian team filed a complaint with CAF, alleging poor refereeing.
