KoupÉla: Alfred Jean Michel Bationo, a certified French teacher and writer, has released his ninth novel, “Placental Governance or Falsified Paradise,” which delves into the dynamics of power and governance in an imaginary country. The novel, consisting of 201 pages and divided into four parts, was officially launched in a ceremony chaired by Colonel Aboudou Karim Lamizana, Governor of the Centre-East Region, at the Centre-East Regional Council.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the novel presents a fictional country led by President Panga, who appoints unqualified relatives to key positions, setting the stage for a narrative on authoritarian drift. The story highlights the consequences of such governance, as Panga overlooks the actions of his inner circle, leading to a regime fraught with incompetence and corruption.

The narrative follows the character Zug-Nooma, a regime opponent who endeavors to restore hope and stability to the country. Bationo introduces the idea of “placentocratism,” a term he
uses to describe a governance style posing significant threats to nascent democracies.

During the book dedication, Colonel Lamizana praised Bationo for his literary contribution, while Nachor Sorgho, Regional Director of Secondary Education of the Center-East, encouraged students and reading enthusiasts to engage with the novel. The book is available in bookstores for 13,000 FCFA and is seen as a tool to instill patriotic and peaceful values among readers.
