Chief Justice Koome Lauds New LSK Council Members and Promotes Diversity


NAIROBI, Kenya — Chief Justice Martha Koome extended her congratulations to the newly elected President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Ms. Faith Odhiambo, and the council members, marking a pivotal moment for the legal profession’s governing body over the next two years. Ms. Odhiambo’s election represents a significant achievement as she becomes the second woman to ever hold the position of President within the LSK’s history.



According to Kenya News Agency, Ms. Odhiambo’s election is a “remarkable step” toward enhancing inclusion and diversity within professional organizations. Chief Justice Koome, who also serves as the President of the Supreme Court of Kenya, expressed her eagerness to collaborate with Ms. Odhiambo and her council in their endeavors.



Furthermore, Chief Justice Koome congratulated Mr. Omwanza Ombati on his election as the Male Representative of the Law Society of Kenya to the Judicial Service Commission. In a press statement, she noted the long-standing tradition of cooperation and consultation between the LSK and the Judiciary, aimed at promoting access to justice, improving the efficiency of the justice administration system, and upholding the rule of law in Kenya.



Chief Justice Koome encouraged the newly elected officials to continue pursuing these transformative goals. She also commended all candidates who participated in the recent elections and the advocates across the country for maintaining peace and orderliness throughout the campaign period and on the election day, underscoring the legal community’s commitment to democratic processes.
