Bengo Celebrates Completion of New 200-Bed General Hospital

Caxito — The northern Bengo province is set to inaugurate its new General Hospital on Monday, boasting 200 beds, 15 clinical areas across 24 blocks, accommodations for health professionals, and a dedicated haemodialysis centre.

According to Angola Press News Agency, This facility is poised to become a hub for professional training and scientific research, providing services in general medicine, pediatrics, surgery, and more. The construction, with a budget of 63.1 million dollars, commenced in August 2021 over a 45 cubic metre area and was completed within the stipulated 18-month period.

The province is currently served by a network of healthcare facilities, including six municipal hospitals, two general hospitals, 22 health centers, one maternity clinic, and 73 healthcare units. The regional health sector employs 105 internal specialty doctors, 26 foreign doctors, 29 national doctors, and a complement of 1,477 nurses, 398 diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, 158 general technicians, and 237 hospital support technicians, totaling 2,430 health professionals.
