Operation Vuthu Hawe: Fezile Dabi District

SAPS Social Crime Prevention members from various stations in the Fezile Dabi District embarked on Operation Vuthu Hawe and Safer Schools awareness campaign in Mafube today at Thuto ke Lesedi Primary School and Poelano Primary School.

The visits to the schools were aimed at creating awareness about bullying, drugs, child abuse and domestic violence.

Speakers gave guidance to the school learners about various issues that affect the youth including social media. Learners were sensitized about stranger danger, child abuse, including physical and sexual abuse, bullying and the dangers of drugs and substance abuse. The various speakers emphasized the consequences of crime and further highlighted that schools should be crime-free zones, a safe learning environment for learners and educators.

Information was made available as to where learners should report abuse if they come across different types of abuse.

SAPS concluded the awareness campaign at Phahameng Clinic, where members issued pamphlets to community members. About 50 people were reached. One illegal shebeen was closed down and ten fines were issued for purchasing liquor at an unlicensed premises and one fine was issued for selling liquor at an unlicensed premises.
