Tragic Sandpit Accident Claims Lives of Two Minors in Kamundema


Kamundema – In a tragic incident, two boys, aged twelve and nine, lost their lives in Kamundema village, Kavango East Region, after a sandpit they were playing in collapsed, burying them alive.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), The Namibia Police Force’s Acting Regional Commander in the Kavango East Region, Deputy Commissioner Eino Nambahu, reported the incident on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as 12-year-old Makanga Johannes Ntjinano and 9-year-old Nankema Kafuro. The boys died due to suffocation, and their next of kin have been notified of their tragic deaths. Their bodies have been taken to the Nyangana District Mortuary for autopsy.



In a separate incident, a 32-year-old woman from Shikoro village in the Ndiyona Constituency was fatally attacked by a crocodile in the Kavango River. The deceased, identified as Muhembo Mudi, was fetching water alone from the river when she was attacked. After an extensive search by officials from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, her body was recovered near the site of the attack on Monday. Her family has been informed of her death.
