Kimana Girls Secondary Celebrates Achievement with New Dormitory

LOITOKTOK, Kenya — Kimana Girls Secondary School in Loitoktok Sub County celebrated an exceptional performance in the last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a grand thanksgiving event on Saturday. The ceremony was marked by the commissioning of a new 200-capacity dormitory, a significant enhancement to the school’s facilities, by Kajiado County’s Director of Education, Bathlomew Lumbasi.

According to Kenya News Agency, the event was not just a celebration of academic excellence but also an opportunity to address the educational challenges faced by the Maasai community. He highlighted the critical role of education in transformation and called for the development of a community education strategy to improve educational outcomes in the region. Lumbasi underscored the importance of early talent identification and nurturing, pointing to the school’s vital role in developing future professionals across various fields.

In his vision for the school’s future, Lumbasi set an ambitious target for the 2024 KCSE results, aiming for a mean score of 7.8, building on the school’s impressive third-place finish in Kajiado County during last year’s national examinations. He advocated for technological investments, including the establishment of virtual classes, to make education more accessible.

The event was also attended by the Member of Parliament for Kajiado South, Shakimba Parashina, who commended the students for their hard work and dedication. Parashina pledged to purchase a bus for the school and collaborate with the county government to raise educational standards, not just at Kimana Girls but across the constituency. Additionally, he revealed plans to establish a technical and vocational training college to provide further educational opportunities for secondary school leavers.

The celebration concluded with scholarships awarded to the top-performing girls from the 2023 KCSE, recognizing their achievements and encouraging continued academic excellence.
