Social facts, sport and justice on the menu of Burkinabè newspapers

The Burkinabè dailies this Wednesday echo the fine coal trial, the 34th edition of the Tour du Faso, without forgetting social facts.

The national daily Sidwaya carries on its front page: “Illegal consumption of electricity: Café restaurants are ‘sucking up’ at the expense of the State”, evoking the phenomenon of kiosks, restaurants and other refreshments housed within state structures.

For its part, L’Observateur Paalga, the dean of Burkinabè private dailies, devotes its headline to the 2023-2024 school year, showing the image of girls dressed in traditional loincloths, with the title: “Patriotically in Faso Dafani”.

Concerning another social fact, Sidwaya displays: ‘National Council of the Elderly: direct exchanges with the Head of State around their contribution to peace’.

The newspaper reports that the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, had direct exchanges yesterday Tuesday in Ouagadougou, with representatives of elderly people from the 13 regions of Burkina Faso.

According to
Sidwaya, the minister in charge of solidarity, Nandy Somé/Diallo stressed that it was a matter of exposing the actions carried out by this component of the population in the construction of a Burkina Faso of peace, social cohesion , solidarity and living together and also receive guidance from the President of the Transition to better provide their support to the government.

By the way, the private daily Le Pays underlines that the elderly have shared their concerns with the head of state.

The daily reports that the organizing committee of the Tour du Faso held its first press conference yesterday, Tuesday, under the chairmanship of Director General (DG) of Sports, Alexandre Yougbaré. This meeting with media people provided details on the preparations for this edition of resilience.

According to the daily, the first pedal stroke will be given on October 27, 2023, for a first Ouaga-Pô stage.

The newspaper indicates that the trial of the so-called fine coal case was postponed to October 5 by the High Court (TGI) Ouaga I due to the absence of certain witnesses at the hearing yesterday, October 3.

On this subject, the daily Sidwaya specifies that in total, 12 natural persons and two legal persons should appear for acts of fraud in the marketing of gold and other precious substances, illegal export of hazardous waste, money laundering, forgery in private commercial writing, use of forgery in private commercial writing.
