Burkina: The NGO Médecins Sans Frontières calls on populations to give more importance to their mental health

The NGO Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) on Tuesday called on the Burkinabè populations to give more importance to their mental health, particularly in the difficult security and humanitarian context that Burkina is going through. .

According to the head of mission of the NGO Médecins sans frontières (MSF) in Burkina Faso, Tamberi Aimé Makimeré, his structure is deeply committed to providing health care to vulnerable communities in the country, particularly in areas affected by humanitarian crises.

He also urged the population to give more importance to mental health by going to health structures for their consultations.

Mr. Makimeré was in Ouagadougou on Tuesday, in front of journalists on the occasion of the celebration of International Mental Health Day, under the theme “Humanitarian assistance in Burkina Faso: What responses does MSF have to the needs of the populations, including the mental health needs’.

Listening to him, mental health is neglected in developing countries, particularly in conflict
zones, and therefore leaders must deploy the necessary means to care for the sick.

Tamberi Aimé Makimeré explained that MSF operates in Burkina Faso in five regions, namely the Sahel, the North Centre, the East, the Boucle du Mouhoun and Hauts-Bassins.

According to him, MSF intervenes permanently in Burkina Faso to support local populations and teams through various activities.

These include, among other things, medical assistance, the distribution of basic necessities, the supply of drinking water and the training of health personnel.

In the press kit, it is written that Doctors Without Borders is a humanitarian organization created in 1971 which provides medical assistance to populations whose lives or health are threatened by armed conflicts in more than 60 countries around the world. , epidemics or natural disasters.
