Directorate General of Labour Inspection launches campaign against irregular employment of migrants

The Directorate General of Labour Inspection found that a significant number of African workers employed in Tunisia are not in compliance with the law, the Ministry of Social Affairs said in a statement Wednesday. “The majority of these workers have failed to provide any form of identification or proof of legal residence.”

Accordingly, the Directorate called on the employers of these non-compliant migrant workers to terminate their work immediately, saying reports will be written against employers.

Labour Inspection services continue control campaigns throughout various regions in Tunisia, particularly in areas known for tourist, industrial, and agricultural activities, with high concentration of non-compliant migrant workers, the statement noted.

Coordination will be ensured with the various governmental structures, including the ministries of the interior and employment, in the coming days, in order to limit the proliferation of this phenomenon, the same source noted.
