Somali National Army Secures Victories Against Khawarij in Bay and Bakool Regions

Mogadishu – The Somali National Army (SNA) successfully conducted operations against the Khawarij in the Bay and Bakool regions. General Ali Nur Mad Idris, the commander of the 45th Unit of the 8th Brigade of the 60th Division of the SNA, reported that the planned operation on November 28, 2023, led to the liberation of several villages and towns used as bases by the Khawarij for attacks against civilians and government forces.

According to Somali National News Agency, the liberated areas include Eel Dhuun Adeegow, Shaanto, Eel Mareere, Garas Habad, and Oosle in the Bay region, and Eel Shariif, Bala’bala Warta, Doolar, and Adeegow in the Bakool region. The SNA also dismantled hideouts and weapon caches of the Khawarij and freed many people living under their control.

This operation is a continuation of the SNA and the Somali federal government’s efforts to restore peace and stability in a country long affected by violence and terrorism. The SNA commander commended his soldiers’ bravery and professionalism, vowing to persist in the fight against the Khawarij until their complete eradication from Somalia.
