Musina police recovers 107 suspected stolen tv screens and one suspect appear in court

The South African Police Service at Musina in Vhembe District, recovered 107 television screens and arrested a 44-year-old man for possession of stolen properties on 10 July 2023 at around 14:00 in Musina China Mall.

Reportedly, the Police were on duty when they noticed a suspicious man carrying a TV. The suspect was approached and questioned, he failed to give reasonable answers. Upon preliminary investigations, over 100 Sumsung “32” inch televisions were recovered at the storeroom. Police also found that the televisions were stolen during a hijacking incident that occurred in October last year (2022) at Volsloorus in Gauteng Province.

The suspect was immediately arrested and a number of 107 television were confiscated, they are worth R375 000.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commends the Police for recovering such quantity of stolen TVs and arresting the suspect.

The suspect, Abrar Jamel Hassen aged 44 appeared before Musina magistrate on Wednesday 12 July 2023 and is out on bail of R10 000-00 for possession of suspected stolen properties.

The Police investigations are still ongoing.
