Lion Spotted In Ongata Rongai

Fear has gripped residents of Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, after some unconfirmed reports that a lion had been spotted in the area.

According to one of Ongata Rongai Community Policing officials, Mr. Jasper Mogaka, the big cat was sighted Sunday night at Laiser Hill within the Thorn Tree area.

Mogaka advised residents to remain vigilant and avoid walking along Kimani Road, as the animal is suspected to be hiding in the thorny bushes along it.

‘Locals, especially school-going children should be very careful while accessing these areas,’ Mr. Mogaka posted on a Social media page.

He said KWS had been alerted, and their officers were already on the ground searching for the animal.

The area borders Nairobi National Park, and wild animals often stray into people’s residences, causing human-wildlife conflicts.

The incident comes barely a week after a lioness that seemed sickly was spotted in the same region.
