Zoundw©ogo/BEPC 2026 Fraud Case Postponed: 34 Candidates and 2 Supervisors Await July Hearing

Ouagadougou: The High Court (TGI) of Manga has rescheduled the examination of the case involving alleged fraud by 34 candidates and 2 supervisors from the secondary center of Gu©r© under the Guiba jury. The hearing, initially set for this Wednesday, has been postponed to July 8, 2026, following a defense request during the session.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the postponement was granted after the defense sought additional time to prepare. The 36 defendants are facing charges of alleged fraud and complicity during the first round of the 2026 Brevet d'©tudes du premier cycle (BEPC) exams. These alleged offenses reportedly occurred during the written tests at the secondary center of Gu©r©.

During the proceedings, Mr. Pierre D©sir© Bado, representing Mr. Ilboudo P. Alexandre, who was absent due to an impediment, requested an adjournment to better prepare his client's defense. After considering the parties' observations, the court agreed to the postponement, setting the new hearing date for July 8, 2026.

This development follows a decision made on June 9, 2026, by the president of the Guiba jury, Todjim Mar©, who signed a note excluding 34 candidates from the first round of the BEPC exams. The candidates were removed due to alleged fraud during the English and physics-chemistry tests, in line with the procedures manual's provisions for handling examination fraud. According to Todjim Mar©, confirmed guilt leads to the cancellation of the concerned copies and the removal of implicated candidates.
