Zoundweogo: The Gogo provincial civic watchdog organized a communal breaking of the fast on Friday in Samtinga, a village in the Gogo commune, bringing together Christians and Muslims to strengthen social cohesion and promote religious tolerance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative gathered several authorities and representatives of various religious and traditional faiths, including the Regional Director of Human Rights for the Nazinon, as well as representatives of the Muslim, Christian, and traditional communities.
The representative of the 'Wayiyans' of Samtinga expressed his gratitude to all the participants who agreed to join them for this collective breaking of the fast, a strong symbol of fraternity and cohesion between the different religious communities.
Representing the Nabiga of Samtinga, Fran§ois Kabore welcomed the participants on behalf of the chief and his elders. He emphasized that this type of initiative contributes to strengthening social cohesion and community spirit.
Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, Imam Sadou indicated that this activity is of great importance in the current context of the country. "Love of one's neighbor is one of the fundamental tenets of Islam," he declared, while wishing everyone a blessed time of penance.
Similarly, the catechist of the Samtinga chapel praised this initiative and encouraged its continuation, considering it a concrete example of interfaith fraternity.
For his part, the Regional Director of Human Rights for Nazinon, Souleymane Sawadogo, congratulated the organizers on this action. 'You have once again proven that we are all human beings and that religious differences cannot divide us,' he affirmed, inviting the Wayiyans to continue their efforts in promoting social cohesion.
The ceremony concluded with blessings and words of thanks delivered by El Hadj Compaore, representative of the Wayiyans from the commune of Gogo.
