Zoundweogo: The village of Foungou, located in the commune of Gomboussougou, province of Zoundweogo, inaugurated, this Saturday January 17, 2026, a music laboratory, a theatre laboratory as well as a library, intended mainly for the children and young people of the locality.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the facility, named "The Citadel of Music, Thoughts, and Words," aims to promote the socio-cultural and artistic development of its beneficiaries, while providing a learning environment and a space for discovering talent.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of several dignitaries, including the chief of the village of Foungou, Naaba Kiiba, the politician Zephirin Diabre, and Giuseppe Falvo, an Italian national and project facilitator, accompanied by Samadou Soulene, former president of FABI (Federation of Burkinab¨ Associations in Italy).
In his address, the chief of Foungou welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the project. He emphasized the importance of this facility for the cultural and intellectual development of the village's children.
Zephirin Diabre, for his part, praised the initiative, describing it as a source of hope, as it offers young people a space for artistic expression and training outside of traditional settings.
The project consists of a brick building housing three distinct spaces: a music lab, a theater lab, and a library. The Citadel is open not only to students but also to all residents of Foungou, who can benefit from the services offered.
According to the project's promoters, this initiative is part of an innovative approach that goes beyond simple donations. It aims to create sustainable opportunities, value local skills, and foster socio-cultural development through arts education.
Giuseppe Falvo, the project facilitator, stated his conviction that the progress and social development of a community also depend on culture, creativity, and access to knowledge. He explained that the Citadel already benefits from a twinning agreement with an Italian school, facilitating educational exchanges and video calls between Burkinab¨ and Italian students, under the supervision of their teachers.
The project's success was made possible thanks to the commitment of Giuseppe Falvo, who lives in Italy and worked for the Italian Railways, in collaboration with local partners.
With the inauguration of the Citadel of Music, Thoughts, and Words, the village of Foungou has acquired a major cultural resource for youth and community development.
