Zoundweogo: The Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Burkina Faso (AFEMIB) organized, from November 25 to 26, 2025 in Gogo, Zoundweogo province, an awareness workshop on local content and the National Platform for the Promotion of Local Content (PNPCL) for the benefit of 25 women entrepreneurs from local structures, in order to enable them to better take advantage of the market opportunities offered by the Kiaka SA mine.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this activity has helped to strengthen the capacities of women entrepreneurs from cooperatives on the national local content strategy and the PNPCL mechanism, with a view to facilitating their integration into the supply chain of the mining company Kiaka SA, located in the commune of Gogo.
Roger Zoungrana, Head of the Local Content Department at the Permanent Secretariat for Local Content and Investment Promotion (SP/CLPI), recalled that the national local content policy aims to make mining more inclusive. "Mines mobilize significant resources. The government's vision is that their benefits should accrue to all populations," he stated.
He presented the national platform for promoting local content as an essential tool enabling women-owned businesses to seize opportunities offered by mining companies. Work focused on raising awareness of local content, training in quality standards and mining procedures, networking, and creating a national directory of women-owned businesses.
For AFEMIB, represented by its program manager, Edouard Kambire, the challenge is to enable women to fully integrate into the mining supply chain. "We want women to have the necessary skills, particularly regarding the laws governing the supply of goods and services to the mine," he explained.
He expressed his gratitude to the Project to Support the Strengthening of Land and Mines Management (PARGFEM) for its financial support.
At the end of the work, on behalf of the beneficiaries, the representative of the women's associations of Gogo, Rasmata Sebgo, expressed her satisfaction with the quality of the communications and their impact on their activities and their families.
In his address at the opening ceremony, the President of the special delegation (PDS) of Gogo, Issa Tiendrebeogo, reaffirmed the commitment of the municipal authorities to support this initiative aimed at promoting the empowerment of women entrepreneurs. The PDS invited the participants to share information, familiarize themselves with the texts, and work together. Finally, it expressed its gratitude to AFEMIB and SP/CLPI for their availability and for choosing the municipality of Gogo.
