Zorgho – On Monday, November 6, the special municipal delegation of Zorgho convened for its fourth ordinary session of 2023. The session, chaired by Valentin Badolo, primarily focused on reviewing and voting on the preliminary draft budget for the 2024 fiscal year.
According to the Burkina Information Agency, the meeting was held in the town hall of Zorgho. The members unanimously approved the preliminary draft of the initial management budget for 2024. The budget, balancing revenue and expenditure, totals 346 million 850 thousand 722 CFA francs. It comprises 287 million 680 thousand 767 CFA francs for the operating section and 59 million 169 thousand 955 CFA francs for the investment section.
The session also included discussions on new tax regulations. Starting January 1, 2024, holders of aggregate deposits intended for sale in Zorgho will be subject to an annual tax of 10 thousand CFA francs per deposit. Additionally, taxes on straying animals will range from 2500 to 6000 CFA francs depending on the animal category, not to mention impound and tourist taxes. The taxation for the slaughter of animals will vary from 100 to 250 CFA francs per animal, based on the type.
Another key decision made during the session was the authorization for a public-private partnership agreement for the rehabilitation of the Zorgho bus station. This move is expected to enhance transportation facilities within the commune.
Other agenda items included the reading, amendment, and adoption of the minutes from the third ordinary session held on September 20 and 21, 2023, the presentation of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee report, the authorizing officer’s report, and the completion of assigned missions.
Valentin Badolo, the president of the special delegation, expressed gratitude towards all members for their participation. He highlighted the importance of the representatives of technical services in the meeting and their contributions to the deliberations. Mr. Badolo emphasized the need for active involvement in financial resource mobilization and commended the frankness of the discussions.
