Zorgho: The special delegation reports on its 2024 management to the population: The special communal delegation of Zorgho presented the results of its activities for the year 2024 at the youth and culture center. This event was attended by customary and religious authorities, representatives from CSOs, NGOs, technical services, and Village Development Committees (CVD), marking a day of transparency and exchange.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was moderated by Assi© Abou Dramane Ouattara, the Minister of Territorial Administration’s representative. Mr. Ouattara emphasized that the accountability day was an exercise in transparency, local democracy, and citizen participation, as outlined in the general code of local authorities.
Jules Sost¨ne K©r© from the town hall’s accounting department presented the report, highlighting the effective operation of the special delegation’s bodies in 2024. The municipal administration, consisting of 23 agents, successfully produced 29,314 civil status documents, which included 2,599 birth declarations, 2,254 supplementary birth judgments, and 62 death declarations.
The delegation also undertook humanitarian actions, such as distributing food to vulnerable populations, and organized the second edition of sanitation days. The discussions with participants were dynamic and yielded concrete proposals addressing various concerns like the lack of specific actions for the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) and the livestock sector, the need for a municipal police force, and electrification in villages such as Bissiga.
Participants also requested access to the Municipal Development Plan (PCD), sought clarity on budgetary restrictions, and advocated for better coordination with technical and financial partners. The low birth registration rate and challenges in revenue collection were also discussed.
Several recommendations emerged from the discussions, such as intensifying revenue collection awareness, integrating secondary schools into municipal actions, and involving social partners in the PDC’s development and implementation.
Prefect and President of the Special Delegation, Valentin Badolo, thanked participants for their contributions and provided responses to their concerns. He acknowledged the support of partners like NGOs Orcades, Labo Citoyennet©s, and Oxfam in organizing the event.
Agents from the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC) used this opportunity to promote participation in this presidential initiative, reinforcing the day’s theme of inclusive governance.
