Zondoma’s Civic and Patriotic Education Initiative Sees Successful Conclusion: Conscripts Pledge Commitment to Nation

Zondoma: The first session of the civic and patriotic training program concluded on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the Saint Henri de Osso High School in Gourcy. The closing ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of the Zondoma Province, Aboubacar Sidiki Nab©. Launched on January 13, 2026, this initiative aimed to instill values of patriotism and civic responsibility among young citizens.

According to Burkina Information Agency, over six weeks, 2,480 middle school students participated in the program, where they were introduced to both theoretical and practical concepts of patriotism, civic responsibility, order, discipline, combating school violence, and maintaining order. The training was imparted by instructors from civilian, military, and paramilitary backgrounds.

Aziza Sankara, representing the participants, emphasized the transformative impact of the program, stating, “Today, we are young people aware of our duty to the nation. We leave transformed, with the firm determination to be model citizens, respectful and committed to the development of our province and our country.” She pledged, on behalf of her peers, to be ambassadors of civic responsibility and patriotism within their community.

High Commissioner Aboubacar Sidiki Nab© expressed satisfaction with the program, commending the participants for their commitment. He highlighted the emergence of “a new Burkinab¨, more patriotic, more engaged, and more aware of the challenges of the nation’s development.” He urged the young attendees to embrace revolutionary ideals and apply the values learned during their training.

Saidou Ou©draogo, the Provincial Director in charge of Secondary, Vocational, and Technical Education for Zondoma, who oversaw the event, expressed satisfaction with the program’s conclusion. However, he noted the need for improvements in logistics and monitoring for future sessions. The ceremony concluded with a mini-parade and a meeting between the High Commissioner and the participants.
