Gourcy: Fifty young people from the Northern region of Burkina Faso began a training program on photovoltaic energy, launched by the Association Monde Rural (AMR) in partnership with the Sahel Community Recovery and Stabilization Project (PCRSS-Burkina) on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. The program aims to equip participants, including internally displaced persons and host populations, with skills in solar kit installation and maintenance.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this second edition of the training program has received significant interest, with hundreds of applications demonstrating the demand for skills in renewable energy. Each participant will receive a full solar installation kit at the end of the training. The initiative, Wangré said, addresses the need for sustainable energy in localities impacted by insecurity and lacking electricity access.
PCRSS National Coordinator Boulaye Sanogo highlighted the environmental and economic benefits of solar energy, noting that the project aims to support local and national economies by developing new skills and creating professional opportunities. The Secretary General of Zondoma province, Anatole P. Kaboré, praised the initiative and encouraged participants to become advocates for photovoltaic energy in their communities.
The two-week training program will include both theoretical and practical sessions focused on the installation, maintenance, and development of solar energy systems. The PCRSS project, in collaboration with the World Bank, aims to aid communities affected by the ongoing security crisis in Burkina Faso’s Sahel, Centre-North, and North regions.
