Zondoma: Managers from partner communities of the Association Monde Rural (AMR) have been trained in the digital publication of their entities’ budget data. This initiative took place during a workshop organized on November 14 and 15, 2024, at the AMR headquarters in Gourcy.
According to Burkina Information Agency, thirty-five municipal agents, including presidents of special delegations, general secretaries, civil status officials, accountants, and managers, participated in this workshop. This effort is part of the project “Young people and women committed to responsible citizenship and inclusive governance in the North and Center-West regions (Young people committed),” drawing participants from the municipalities of Gourcy, Tougo, Yako, Kirsi, Soaw, Koudougou, and Réo.
At the session’s opening, AMR’s national coordinator, Amadou Wangré, commended the municipal actors’ dedication to community functioning and emphasized his organization’s readiness to support them in their public service mission. He encoura
ged participants to utilize the tools provided to better serve and inform citizens about community governance.
During the workshop, participants were introduced to the EDIC_Mobile application, learning to record and publish data such as the budget, administrative account, Municipal Development Plan (PCD), and special report of the president of the special delegation (PDS). They also explored how to engage with platform visitors.
Additionally, discussions highlighted key concepts like accountability, good governance, and the Community Dialogue and Interpellation Space (EDIC). The organizers note that this workshop is a step towards supporting municipalities in establishing consultation frameworks and EDIC, with technical and financial backing from NGO Diakonia, a partner of AMR in its local governance program implementation.
