Gourcy: The Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, visited tourist sites in Gourcy as part of the 4th edition of Burkina Faso's heritage month. The visit followed the official launch of the heritage month in the city of Naaba Kango on April 17, 2026.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister was welcomed in Gourcy by His Majesty Naaba Baongo, Chief of Gourcy, and local administrative authorities. The heritage month aims to encourage Burkinabe people to reconnect with their roots and draw inspiration from their cultural foundations. The minister emphasized the importance of this initiative in fostering social ties and promoting cultural awareness among the youth.
The minister's itinerary included visits to notable sites such as the Royal Palace, the Naaba Baongo grove, and the Birigui Julien Ouedraogo museum, showcasing the cultural richness of Naaba Yaadga. Naaba Baongo expressed gratitude for the visit, highlighting its significance in promoting Burkinabe culture and the efforts of the Racine Association in maintaining these tourist sites.
The 4th edition of Burkinab¨ heritage, which was launched by Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo in Ouahigouya, runs from April 18 to May 18, 2026. The theme for this edition is "Heritage and cultural diversity: Commitment, role and responsibility of actors."
