Ziro: The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Ziro aims to increase the success rate of the Primary Education Certificate (CEP) to 80% by the 2025 session. This decision was made during the first board meeting of the 2024-2025 school year held on Wednesday in Sapouy, under the leadership of provincial director Sidbéwendin Compaoré. According to Burkina Information Agency, the 2024 action plan of DPEPPNF of Ziro was executed at an 84.24% level of completion, receiving high praise from education stakeholders at the board meeting. Ousséni Nikièma, the head of the studies and planning department, highlighted the satisfactory results of the 2024 CEP session, where a 76.32% success rate, the highest in the last five years, was achieved. To reach the ambitious 2025 target, educational supervisors proposed additional support activities for middle school students in grades CM1 and CM2. The meeting also reviewed the administrative and educational preparations for the 202 4-2025 school year, emphasizing that all classes in the province are staffed with teachers and most schools closed due to security concerns have now reopened. Challenges such as a shortage of desks and textbooks, the proliferation of Koranic schools, management of internally displaced students, and issues with school canteen provisions were also discussed. Educational stakeholders, including social partners like unions, urged for better management of teaching staff both in the field and in offices. Sidbéwendin Compaoré encouraged all educational stakeholders to address these challenges head-on, particularly focusing on accommodating internally displaced students and enhancing communication with social partners to ensure a more effective educational framework.
