Ziniar©: A training session on the prevention and management of community conflicts opened Tuesday in Ziniar© under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the Oubritenga province. This activity is organized by the National Observatory for the Prevention and Management of Community Conflicts (ONAPREGECC), in partnership with the Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).
According to Burkina Information Agency, for four days, community leaders, young people and women from different localities of Ziniar©, representatives of civil society organizations, military and paramilitary personnel, media men, and civilian servants will be trained on several themes related to techniques for the prevention, management, and resolution of community conflicts. This initiative comes at a time of multidimensional crisis, unfortunately affecting a large part of the population, particularly young people and women. It is within this context that ONAPREGECC has expanded its activities to several localities to contribute effectively to the prevention of these outbreaks.
The Permanent Secretary of ONAPREGECC explained that the training aims to strengthen the participants' capacities so that they can play an active role in consolidating peace and social cohesion. 'This activity, initiated with the support of our partner DCAF for the benefit of young and women leaders, aims to strengthen their capacities in conflict prevention and resolution techniques, as well as their contribution to preserving peace and social cohesion in Burkina Faso, particularly in the Oubritenga province,' she stated.
Participants are encouraged to become ambassadors within their communities, sharing the knowledge acquired with those unable to attend the training. Ms. Kabor©/Wangr© Korotimi emphasized the importance of participants acting as intermediaries in conflict prevention and management in their communities and disseminating the knowledge acquired to benefit a greater number of people.
Beneficiaries of the training session expressed their satisfaction, highlighting the importance of the initiative both personally and in the community. 'We are very pleased with this beneficial initiative. We have already learned a lot and we will continue to learn during the remaining days,' said Ms. Belem/Ky Evelyne.
Through this initiative, ONAPREGECC and its partner, DCAF, intend to strengthen community engagement in conflict prevention and the promotion of lasting peace in Burkina Faso.
