SWITZERLAND – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to present peace proposals to Russia after gaining approval from the international community. This statement came during the first peace summit held in Switzerland, focused on ending the ongoing conflict.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the peace plan will be shared with Russian representatives once it is fully transparent and accepted globally. “When the action plan is on the table, accepted by all and transparent to the people, then it will be communicated to the representatives of Russia, so that we can truly end the war,” he explained during the summit’s opening. The event saw participation from over a hundred countries and organizations, though Russia was notably absent.

American Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine. She highlighted the dangers of inaction in the face of aggression, suggesting that failing to respond could embolden other potential aggressors. Meanwhile, Kenyan President William Ruto and Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhane, echoed the necessity of involving Russia in peace negotiations to ensure any substantive progress.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen both criticized the idea of a “frozen conflict,” warning that it could lead to future wars. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak advocated for a peace based on the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter, aiming for a permanent cessation of hostilities.
