Zambia Reaffirms Aim to Invest in Angola’s Agricultural and Mining Sectors

Saurimo: The Zambian ambassador to Angola, Elias Munshya, reaffirmed his country's goal to invest in agriculture and mining to promote development in both Angola and Zambia. This statement was made during a meeting with Lunda-Sul governor Gildo Matias. According to Angola Press News Agency, Munshya highlighted Zambia's strong position in agricultural production and the interest of Zambian entrepreneurs in expanding into Angola. The ambassador emphasized that Zambian entrepreneurs are eager to explore opportunities in tourism and the implementation of processing industries. The diplomat expressed appreciation for the Angolan government's efforts in extending the railway to Saurimo, which is expected to enhance the exchange of goods between southern and eastern Angola and other Southern African countries. Munshya also expressed hopes for the completion of the rail link with Zambia, including the Lobito Corridor, to facilitate trade and strengthen ties between the nations. Governor Gildo Matias noted that tra de and cultural exchanges are crucial for strengthening bilateral relations. He pointed out Lunda-Sul's mining potential and other promising areas such as agriculture, where significant investments are possible. The governor invited Zambian entrepreneurs to invest in the province to aid in its development and create jobs for local youth. Zambia maintains a consulate in Angola's eastern region, in the province of Moxico. The two countries share a 1,110-kilometer border through this consulate and the neighboring province of Moxico Leste.
