Zambezi: The Zambezi Regional Council (ZRC) on Wednesday announced the suspension of its Chief Regional Officer (CRO), Regina Ndopu-Lubinda, with effect from 30 December 2025. Making the announcement at a press briefing, Kabbe North Constituency Councilor and Chairperson of the ZRC Management Committee, Bernard Sisamu stated that the suspension follows alleged internal corruption-related matters involving millions of dollars currently before the courts.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the suspension is a precautionary administrative measure intended to allow for due process and the completion of internal procedures without interference. Sisamu noted that the decision to suspend the CRO was already taken by the previous Council on 05 September 2025, but no letter of suspension was issued to the CRO at the time.
The newly elected council convened a special Council meeting on 30 December 2025, where a decision was made to implement the council resolution of that meeting with immediate effect. The suspension is with full pay, and the Director of General Services, Sylvester Simwanza, will act as CRO on an interim basis.
Ndopu-Lubinda's five-year contract with ZRC ends on 28 February 2026.
