Youth’s Pedal Stroke: The 5th Edition Under the Banner of Road Safety

Kenedougou: The High Commissioner of the Kenedougou province, Saidou Sakira, presided over the launch of the 5th edition of the “Youth Pedaling” on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the initiative of Nazaire Konate, promoter of the event and head of NK Production. The event was sponsored by Napotio Karidjatou Traore and placed under the patronage of the Director General of the National Office of Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Developments (ONBAH), Commander Yaya Traore.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme of the event was “Road safety in Burkina Faso: What contribution from the youth of Orodara?”, focusing on promoting cycling and good health practices through a competitive race. The event featured men’s and women’s teams competing in front of an enthusiastic crowd.

Nazaire Konate, the event’s promoter, highlighted the alarming rise in traffic accidents in Burkina Faso as the reason for choosing the theme. “Given the increasing number of accidents recorded each year in Burkina Faso, it was necessary
to engage young people and draw their attention to road safety,” explained Mr. Konate. He appreciated the strong community support and thanked partners and supporters for their contributions to the event’s success.

Commander Yaya Traore, speaking on behalf of the sponsors, praised the initiative for its role in strengthening social cohesion and peace. He expressed gratitude to the promoter for their trust.

High Commissioner Saidou Sakira emphasized the need to address road insecurity and encouraged youth to adopt responsible behaviors, including wearing helmets, respecting traffic signs, moderating speed, and maintaining vehicles regularly.

The competition concluded with Sidiki Siribie winning first place among the boys, while Orokya Traore took the top prize among the girls.
