Youth from Sahel Alliance Countries Commit to Supporting Regional Vision

Ouagadougou – The office representing pupils and students from the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and Guinea has pledged its support for the shared vision outlined by the AES heads of state, as reported by the AIB on Monday in Ouagadougou. The youth group expressed their dedication to advancing this vision through the enhancement of their educational systems, aiming to address various challenges facing their countries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Maouloune Hassan, the Secretary General of the Pupils and Students Office of AES and Guinea, emphasized the role of young people in carrying forward the vision set by the states’ leaders. By focusing on strengthening educational systems, the group seeks to contribute meaningfully to the development and resilience of their nations.

During a meeting with Karamoko Jean Marie Traoré, the head of Burkinabe diplomacy, the delegation from the four West African countries, all currently undergoing transitions, conveyed the eagerness of young students and pupils to align with the “enlightened vision” of the AES’s heads of state. The youths expressed a desire to “progressively contribute to the strengthening of existing relations between Burkina Faso, the Republic of Mali, and the Republic of Niger” through their organization, as reported by the communications service of the Burkinabè Ministry in charge of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Traoré addressed the delegation, emphasizing their crucial role in the future of the AES. He urged the youth to demonstrate to the world the region’s potential, underscored by its human resources. Traoré called on the young delegates to ensure a successful succession, to work inclusively, share valuable experiences, and promote the AES vision effectively among their peers and younger generations. He also reassured the delegation of his and his team’s support for the initiatives developed by the AES pupils and students’ structure.
