Youth Dominate Voter Count in Tobias Hainyeko

Windhoek: A large number of young people turned up to polling stations in the Tobias Hainyeko Constituency on Wednesday to vote in the 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authority Elections. Presiding officer of the Oshatotwa A polling station, Toivo Namundjebo, reported that the majority of the approximately 800 voters were youth.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Namundjebo mentioned that they have received more voters aged 18-30, with fewer participants from the older age groups. He also noted that the Electoral Commission of Namibia has excelled in voter education, as most voters demonstrated excellent knowledge in the voting process.

Tangeni Shikesho, a 19-year-old first-time voter, expressed his satisfaction with the voting experience. "I am really happy about voting for the first time, the line was fast. I am sure my vote will bring change to this community," he stated.

Additionally, Kauarive Humbu, the presiding officer at the Tobias Hainyeko Primary School polling station, reported that about 500 people voted, with the youth being the majority. She observed that while seniors arrived in greater numbers during the early hours, more youth appeared as the day progressed.
