CAIRO — Despite facing challenges with sponsorships, Karasburg’s Young Brazilians Football Club is setting its sights on a top-four finish in the 2024/25 Debmarine Namibia Premiership season, according to head coach Galiel Pelwan.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Pelwan expressed optimism about his team’s prospects, noting that finishing anywhere in the top four would be considered a success, with winning the league seen as an added bonus. This ambitious goal comes after the team’s modest 11th-place finish in the previous season. “We would want to forget about the PstBet Cup success we had earlier this year and refocus,” Pelwan stated, highlighting a shift in the team’s priorities towards greater achievements in the league.

The coach also mentioned the addition of new talent to the roster, including two players from South Africa who are expected to bring significant value to the team. Ongoing negotiations are likely to bring even more players on board as the season approaches.

Page Namene, the newly appointed technical director and a former player for the team, underscored the club’s ongoing struggle with obtaining sponsorship despite being in the premier league for four years. He called on businesses and corporates within the || Kharas Region to support the team, suggesting that sponsorship could offer mutual benefits by enhancing brand visibility across the country. Namene also discussed the formation of a supporters’ club to bolster fan engagement and financial support for the team.

“Our aim as a team is to bring more players from the south into the team so that we can have a big pool of players to choose from,” Namene added, indicating a strategic focus on regional talent development to strengthen the team’s competitive edge.
