Yilou Herders Donate Motorcycle to Veterinary Service to Enhance Mobility

Bam: In a significant move to bolster the operational capabilities of the local veterinary service, the Yilou herders have donated a motorcycle in the commune of Guibare. This initiative was officially recognized during a handover ceremony presided over by the governor of the Koulse region, Colonel-Major Zoewendmanego Blaise Ouedraogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor's visit to Yilou was part of ongoing efforts following the launch of an animal vaccination campaign, which he chaired in December 2025. During the campaign, the veterinary service highlighted challenges in mobility due to insufficient vehicles necessary to cover their operational area effectively.

In response to these challenges, Governor Ouedraogo encouraged Madi Ouedraogo, president of the vaccination park management committee, to collaborate with local livestock farmers to devise a solution. This initiative aligns with directives from President Captain Ibrahim Traore, promoting self-reliance and grassroots development. The governor contributed personally to encourage this effort.

As a result of these collective efforts, Yilou's livestock farmers managed to procure a motorcycle valued at approximately 1,075,000 CFA francs for the veterinary zone's head. This gesture was recognized in a ceremony attended by Issa Lagvare, President Traore's representative for the Koulse region, who commended the Guibare community for their initiative.

Issa Lagvare highlighted the community's alignment with the values advocated by President Traore and urged other municipalities to adopt similar self-driven development strategies. Additionally, through the High Commissioner of Bam, Karim Ouedraogo, the governor lauded the civic responsibility demonstrated by the people of Yilou, encouraging ongoing community involvement in local development endeavors.
