Yatenga Women Donate 3 Million FCFA to Support Peace Efforts in Burkina Faso

YATENGA — In a significant show of support for national peace efforts, the women of Yatenga, led by Hadja Fati Ouédraogo, a former member of the National Assembly, presented a donation of 3 million FCFA to the governor of the Northern region on Friday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place under the chairmanship of Governor Issouf Ouédraogo and featured representatives from various women’s associations across the province. The donation aims to bolster the patriotism of the women and girls in Yatenga and support the FDS (Defense and Security Forces) and VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) in their efforts to secure the region.

The gathering was marked by speeches, prayers from different religious communities, and expressions of solidarity and hope for peace in Yatenga and throughout Burkina Faso. Bibata Ouédraogo/Nikièma, the provincial women’s coordinator, emphasized the collective effort of the women’s associations since the initiative’s launch in February 2024, highlighting their dedication to supporting the national security forces.

Governor Ouédraogo praised the women’s unity and contribution, noting it as a response to President Ibrahim Traoré’s call for a sovereign and participatory approach to nation-building in Burkina Faso.
