Yatenga/SNC 2024: The Northern region chooses ‘its ambassadors’

The Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, officially launched the regional culture weeks (SRC) competitions, having to choose the competitors who will represent the region at the next National Culture Week. It was this Thursday, October 5, 2023 at the Ouahigouya Youth and Culture House. In the Northern region, 35 troupes participated in the competition in 12 artistic disciplines.

At the opening of the competition, Christiane Sanon/Coulibaly, the General Director of the National Culture Week, took the opportunity to thank the governor and the constituted bodies of the Northern region for having engaged the North again this year in the different disciplines.

The competitions took place in 12 disciplines including traditional dance, traditional instrumental music, popular choir, orchestra, slam, artistic creation, ballet, traditional wrestling and culinary art were on the program of this activity.

For the current edition of the National Culture Week (SNC) Bobo 2024
, the Northern region participated with 35 troupes for a workforce of 350 artists from the provinces of Yatenga, Passoré and Zondoma. The governor of the Northern region, Raymond David Valentin Ouédraogo, indicated that ‘the holding of such a cultural activity must be seen as a demonstrated desire of communities and populations through artists, to continue to be resilient towards -visits the safeguarding of our rich and diverse heritage. Because the survival of our cultural identity is at stake. »

The two days of competition took place under the watchful eye of a jury chaired by Abraham OAbassagué, who made every effort to select the best ambassadors of culture from the Northern region. At the end of the competition, several artistic and cultural representations were indeed selected in accordance with the regulations for the grand prizes in arts and letters. They will participate in the final phase of the National Culture Week (SNC) in Bobo-Dioulasso in 2024.
