Ouahigouya: The Secretary General of the North Kouilga region, Albert Zongo, representing the governor, presided over a ceremony on Wednesday dedicated to the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation, emphasizing the importance of civic acts in cultivating patriotism and reinforcing Burkina Faso's sovereignty.

According to Burkina Information Agency, which was read by Zongo during the event, the objective of the ceremony was to inspire greater patriotism through civic engagement. The ceremony was held at the governorate in Ouahigouya and attended by the region’s defense and security forces, regional directors, and other officials. The event began with the singing of the victory hymn and was followed by a reading of the president's message.

In his address, Zongo emphasized the need for citizens to clean up their environments, remain vigilant, and continue paying taxes to support the nation’s independence. He reiterated the importance of patriotism in building a strong and sovereign Burkina Faso, highlighting that every citizen must contribute to the nation’s development.

Regional activities, including awareness sessions and radio competitions, are set to begin on October 5 to promote citizenship. Zongo called on Burkinabe to reject treason and maintain the values of the homeland in their daily lives.

The event was held under the theme, "For a Strong and Sovereign Nation, Let Us Not Betray Our Homeland."
