Yagha Technical Committee Addresses Food and Nutritional Security Challenges

Yagha: The Yagha Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries convened the first session of the Provincial Food Security Advisory Technical Committee in Sebba, focusing on the province's food and nutrition status, including the challenges and prospects.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting took place in the conference room of the Sebba town hall on Monday, September 8, 2025. The session, held under the theme "Food and Nutritional Security Situation in Yagha Province: Challenges and Prospects," gathered administrative, technical, and humanitarian officials to deliberate on the pressing issues facing the region.

Amadou Mamoudou, representing the president of the special delegation of Sebba, praised the initiative and encouraged participants to collaborate effectively to constructively assess the situation. During the meeting, Soma Adama, the provincial director of agriculture, outlined the current rainy season's developments. He noted that despite support and producer resilience offering some hope for improved food security post-harvest, the situation in the municipalities of Sebba and Solhan remains concerning due to ongoing security issues.

The provincial director of humanitarian action highlighted the challenges of food accessibility and availability in these areas. Temporary management strategies are being employed pending secure convoy arrivals and harvest outcomes. The participants concluded the session with several recommendations, such as enhancing technical service mobility for better activity monitoring, organizing regular supply convoys, improving food access in remote areas, and implementing income-generating activities to boost the population's purchasing power.

The provincial director of agriculture expressed his appreciation for the productive discussions and committed to ensuring that the recommendations are communicated and pursued with the appropriate authorities.
