Ouahigouya: The national president of the Sunni movement of Burkina Faso, El Hadj Oumarou Zoungrana, marked a significant religious event by laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the central mosque of the Sunni movement in the Yaadga region. The ceremony, held last Sunday in Ouahigouya, signifies the start of a major religious infrastructure project in the area.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was a moment of religious fervor for the Sunni Muslim community in Yaadga. The regional office, led by El Hadj Mahamadi Zalle, organized the ceremony attended by the national office president, El Hadj Oumarou Zoungrana, and other colleagues. The new mosque, once completed, will be a two-story structure capable of accommodating over 3,000 worshippers, located in sector 13 of Ouahigouya.
In his address, El Hadj Mahamadi Zalle expressed gratitude towards the community members whose unity enabled the commencement of the project. He described the reconstruction as a source of joy and urged continued unity and contributions from the community to ensure the project’s successful completion.
El Hadj Oumarou Zoungrana, president of the national office, commended the strong mobilization and commitment of the faithful. He highlighted the future mosque’s dual role as a place of prayer and a center for training and spiritual outreach. He encouraged the Muslim faithful to collaborate for the successful realization of the project.
Once completed, the mosque is expected to elevate the experience of Muslim worship in the city of Naaba Kango. The ceremony concluded with prayers for the project’s success and a call for peace in the region.
