Xi Jinping Highlights National Market Unification and Marine Economy Development

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of advancing the construction of a unified national market and enhancing the high-quality development of the marine economy during a meeting of the Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs (CCFEA) on Tuesday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, President Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, articulated that building a unified national market is crucial for establishing a new development model and fostering high-quality growth. He called for strengthened coordination and cooperation to generate synergy in these endeavors.

At the meeting, it was highlighted that the fundamental requirement for developing a unified national market includes unifying underlying market institutions, infrastructure, government conduct, regulatory enforcement, and markets for production factors and resources. Efforts must be made to expand opening up both domestically and internationally.

The meeting also stressed the need to regulate enterprises' price competition according to laws and regulations, standardize government procurement and bidding processes, regulate local government investment attraction practices, and facilitate the domestic sale of export-oriented products.

Additionally, it is essential to enhance fiscal and taxation systems, statistical and accounting systems, and credit systems to support a unified national market, alongside refining evaluation frameworks for high-quality development and systems for assessing officials' performance.

For the marine economy's high-quality development, the focus should be on innovation-driven growth, efficient coordination, industrial renewal, harmony between humans and the sea, and win-win cooperation. The meeting underscored the necessity of increasing policy support and encouraging private capital participation in the marine economy.

China aims to boost its capacity for marine technological innovation, strengthen and expand its marine industries, enhance marine ecological protection, and promote international cooperation in marine scientific research, disaster prevention and mitigation, and the blue economy, as stated during the meeting.

The meeting was attended by several key figures, including Li Qiang, Cai Qi, and Ding Xuexiang, all members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and holding various significant positions within the CPC and CCFEA.
