HAINAN—In the aftermath of Super Typhoon Yagi's destructive passage through southern China, President Xi Jinping has called for enhanced disaster relief measures to address the significant impacts experienced in Hainan and Guangdong provinces.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Super Typhoon Yagi, the 11th typhoon of the year, made landfall on Friday, resulting in three fatalities and injuries to 95 individuals. Xi Jinping, who holds multiple leadership roles including that of the general secretary of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the urgency of robust response efforts. He stressed the importance of mobilizing rescue teams, effectively managing the relocation and resettlement of those affected, preventing secondary disasters, and minimizing casualties as much as possible.

Additionally, Xi underscored the necessity of quickly repairing damaged infrastructure such as transportation networks, electricity, and communication systems to facilitate a swift return to normal life and work. The president's directives reflect a comprehensive approach to disaster recovery, aiming not only to address immediate needs but also to lay the groundwork for longer-term reconstruction and stability in the affected regions.
