Beijing—In a concerted push to position China at the forefront of global education, President Xi Jinping has reiterated the strategic imperative of transforming the nation into a leader in the educational sector.
According to Namibia Press Agency, during a national meeting on education that spanned from Monday to Tuesday in Beijing, Xi, who also serves as the general secretary of the Communist Party of China and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of substantial progress towards achieving this objective. The meeting coincided with the 40th Teachers' Day in China, during which Xi extended greetings to educators and personnel within the educational sector nationwide.
The drive to enhance China's educational stature was initiated following the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, with a targeted goal set for 2035. Xi highlighted that attaining this goal is crucial for bolstering China's aspirations to become a great nation and to promote national rejuvenation through the avenues of Chinese modernization. He described the endeavor to elevate China’s educational standards as a comprehensive and systematic task that necessitates a focus on the essential role of education in cultivating virtue among students.
