Women of Boulgou Review March 8 Activities and Donate Supplies to Prisoners


Tenkodogo: The High Commissioner of the Boulgou province, Dom¨gb¨gui¨re Constantin Dabir©, representing the governor of the Nakamb© region, presided on Tuesday over the review meeting of the activities of March 8, marked by a panel and the handing over of food and bars of soap to the detainees of the prison.



According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Dom¨gb¨gui¨re Constantin Dabir© of the Boulgou province praised the commitment of women in promoting peace and living together. He noted that this commemoration takes place within a context marked by security and social challenges, requiring the mobilization of all stakeholders, particularly women and girls.



The central focus of the activities was a panel discussion on the theme: “Building lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contributions can women and girls make to promoting social cohesion?” Three presentations structured the discussions, focusing on the role of women in promoting peace, community and family entrepreneurship, and the place of the family in social cohesion.



The speakers emphasized that women play a crucial role in conflict prevention through child-rearing and social mediation within communities. They also highlighted the importance of collective entrepreneurship as a factor in fostering closer ties between communities. According to them, this model promotes job creation and helps strengthen the social fabric. Participants were encouraged to become more involved in local peace initiatives and to promote dialogue within families and communities.



Alongside other activities, the Boulgou women’s coordination committee carried out a solidarity action for the inmates of the Tenkodogo prison. A donation of food worth 150,000 FCFA was given to support those deprived of their liberty. According to those in charge of the coordination, this gesture aims to reinforce the values ??of solidarity, sharing, and social cohesion promoted during the March 8th celebrations. They indicated that these actions are part of a dynamic of community engagement in support of vulnerable groups.



Through this report, the Boulgou Provincial Women’s Coordination reaffirms its commitment to promoting peace, social cohesion, and inclusion. The initiatives undertaken should contribute to strengthening social cohesion and encouraging women’s participation in development and peacebuilding efforts.
