Ouahigouya: Women from the commune of Arbinda commemorated International Women's Day on Saturday, March 8, 2026, through a conference focused on their contribution to the promotion of peace and living together, under the chairmanship of the president of the special delegation (PDS), Lazard Kieme.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized by the Arbinda women's communal coordination in the town hall meeting room, centering on the theme: "Building lasting peace in Burkina Faso: what contribution of women and girls to the promotion of living together?". The speaker, Souro Millogo, addressed the participants about the significant role women and girls play in consolidating peace and social cohesion, particularly in a context marked by security challenges.
The Arbinda women's coordinator, Maga Haguiratou, expressed appreciation for the support of local authorities in enhancing women's well-being. She highlighted that organizing this conference underscores the authorities' dedication to advancing women's rights and involvement in the municipality's development. She urged women to foster peace and solidarity around them to strengthen communal living.
In his remarks, Lazard Kieme, president of the special delegation of the commune of Arbinda, emphasized that the celebration of March 8 extends beyond festivities, serving as a moment to contemplate improving women's living conditions.
