Katima mulilo: A 33-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in the Chotto informal settlement at Katima Mulilo on Sunday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the woman was transported to the Katima Mulilo District Hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds to the head and face around 21h00, as reported by the Namibian Police Force in its weekend crime report.
The report detailed that neighbors heard the deceased screaming for help and attempted to intervene but found the house locked from the inside. Through a window, they observed the suspect holding a knife. Upon noticing the presence of people outside, he turned off the room's lights.
The suspect reportedly exited the house after the woman's cries ceased, instructing the neighbors to call the police as he walked away carrying his shoes. The neighbors summoned police assistance, who discovered the woman in a pool of blood and unconscious. She was declared dead at the hospital by a doctor.
The body has been transported to the mortuary for an autopsy. Additionally, police recovered an axe handle with blood stains and a smashed mobile phone believed to belong to the victim.
The 44-year-old suspect remains at large, as attempts to locate him through his friends have been unsuccessful. The woman's next of kin have been informed, and police investigations are ongoing.
