Oshivelo: A 22-year-old woman died in a car accident between Oshivelo and Tsumeb on Friday. The Namibian Police Force’s Regional Commander for Oshikoto, Commissioner Theopoline Kalompho-Nashikaku, reported the incident, which occurred at 12h00 on the B1 road, 40 kilometers outside Oshivelo.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the deceased has been identified as Victoria Haihambo, a resident of Ongwediva. Her next of kin have been informed about the tragic event. Commissioner Kalompho-Nashikaku disclosed that the vehicle, which was registered in Tsumeb, was traveling from Tsumeb towards Oshivelo when its right rear tire burst. This tire failure led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
The accident resulted in the immediate death of one female passenger, while two other female passengers sustained serious injuries. Additionally, five other occupants, including the driver, suffered minor injuries. The regional commander noted that the vehicle was overloaded, carrying eight occupants at the time of the accident.
All survivors of the crash were admitted to the Tsumeb State Hospital for medical treatment.
