Oshana: A 32-year-old woman died after allegedly falling from a moving vehicle at Kakoro village in the Kavango West Region in the early hours of Friday morning. The Namibian Police Force’s spokesperson for the Kavango West Region, Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga, confirmed that the incident occurred at around 04h00 when the victim, identified as Secilia David, fell from a Toyota pick-up truck.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the unlicensed driver of the vehicle, who was the boyfriend of the deceased, was driving recklessly and negligently while under the influence of alcohol. This behavior led to the passenger falling out of the moving vehicle and dying on the spot. The 33-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene. Both the driver and the victim were residents of Kakoro village.
Chief Inspector Muronga stated that the driver faces multiple charges, including culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence of alcohol, and driving without a valid driver’s licence. Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was found stationary, facing the western direction, in the oncoming vehicle’s lane. There is a possibility that the deceased could have fallen from the back of the bakkie, the front passenger seat, or was pushed down.
The remains of the deceased were transported to the Nkurenkuru police mortuary pending an autopsy. The deceased’s next of kin have been informed of her death.
