Woman Detained in Omusati Region for Alleged Smuggled Fuel Possession


OSHAKATI: A 44-year-old woman was arrested in the Omusati Region for allegedly possessing over 1,000 liters of fuel, suspected of being smuggled from Angola. Moses Simaho, the Omusati Crime Investigations Coordinator for the Namibian Police Force, reported the arrest, which occurred around 08:30 at Onandjaba village in the Okalongo constituency.



The suspect was apprehended while reportedly selling fuel to customers from numerous 25-liter containers. Simaho stated that the woman failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing such a large quantity of fuel. In addition to the fuel, police confiscated N.dollars 420 in cash. The total value of the confiscated items is yet to be determined. The woman is facing charges under the Customs and Excise Act and the Petroleum Products and Energy Act. The police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
